Introduction and Organizational Context

Ubuntu Legacy Community Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the Canadian Caribbean Diaspora and diverse seniors aged 55 and older in the Mississauga Peel Region. Guided by the Ubuntu philosophy—"I am because we are"—the organization champions interconnectedness, support, and communal prosperity through education, healthcare, and sustainable development.

Our Mission

This comprehensive policy document establishes the governance framework required to safeguard the organization's mission, assets, and community trust. It integrates essential policies covering financial risk management, diversity and inclusion, reputational risk, data collection and management, privacy, and cybersecurity. These policies are designed to ensure compliance with Canadian non-profit standards, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and best practices in organizational governance.

Our Programs

  • Community Education Program: Equipping seniors 55 and older with knowledge and tools for informed health decisions in a welcoming, culturally aware environment.
  • Health & Wellness Outreach: Accessible, culturally grounded wellness activities supporting healthy aging, chronic disease prevention, and reducing isolation.
  • Intergenerational Programs: Bringing Afro-Canadian seniors and youth together to learn, share, and grow through cultural traditions, recipes, and life lessons.
